Les mauvaises terrestrial a traversed - badlands

 That is what the early French trappers called the area because of the extreme temperatures and lack of water, it was a difficult place to travel through. It is also a place filled with fossils, as this was once the bottom of the sea. As we drove along we started in an area that looked up st the peaks but then later we were looking down into deep canyons. 

There were a million of these prairie dogs along the way - very entertaining 

It was definitely worth seeing, although it was difficult to get to between the gusty winds on the highway or the dusty gravel roads on our return. Today was the last of our cycle touring days, we put on over 2,000 miles on 2 wheels. It was a great trip. Tomorrow we head for home.
