Norris Geyser basin & the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
Our connectivity has been nearly absent, so I’ll try to get caught up on the last few days. Tuesday the weather was more cooperative so we headed first to Norrris Geyser basin. This area has the hottest and most dynamic geysers. We have been staying at a campground in the town of Gardiner near the north entrance. This was an area hit particularly hard by the flooding of 2022.
View from our campsite, Town of Gardiner
Hoodoo rocks - part of an ancient rockslide.
Porcelain springs
Steamboat springs - world’s tallest geyser it erupts between 3days and 50 years ( we didn’t catch it )
Emerald springs- the yellow sulfur deposits combined with the blue sunlight gives it the emerald green color
We then headed to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, making several stops along the way to take in the beautiful vistas
Upper falls
Lower falls
